Three Field Studies Started

Three field studies of Stage I were started this week. They are:
  1. Field survey: survey of the existing highway to prepare plans and profiles for all the highway (517Km). These will be used for later studies and to check the geometric design of the highway.
  2. Geological study: A field study launched to collect data and prepare a geological report about the highway route. This will include info about the possible construction materials available along the route.
  3. Traffic study: A field study started to carry out a traffic counts at selected stations along the highway. Collected data will be used in further analysis to determine design parameters including ADT, Axle load etc.
These studies are expected to be completed within 2 months.

Omran Engineering Consultants to prepare the engineering studies for the maintenance of Mizda-Brak Road

A new contract signed between the Road and Bridge Departmen of Libya (RABA) and Omran Engineering Consultants (OEC) to prepare the studies for the maintenance of Mizda-Brak Road (517 Km). According to this contract OEC is to carry out a number of studies and to prepare the required designs and specifications for the maintenance works of the 517 Km highway. Studies to be carried out include: Survying, Pavement Condition Rating (PCR), Geological and Hydrological studies, soil and local materials studies, etc.
Works in this contract are expected to start on the middle of July 2009 and will last for 10 months.

OEC currently works on other contrcat with RABA includes the PG study and the preparation of the Libyan Specification for the construction of asphalt pavements .
